In September of , members of the Black Disciples street gang in Chicago decided year-old Robert Sandifer was a little too much even for young men who were putting down rivals, as they would say, on the regular. Sandifer, who was also called Yummy because he liked cookies, had proven exuberant and conspicuous. The Disciples feared that if they did not rein him in, the prepubescent could become an informant. And if they did, they would use the boy to get to the Disciples.
Sandifer's murder by fellow gang members in Chicago garnered national attention because of his age,     resulting in his appearance on the cover of Time magazine in September After committing murder, arson and armed robbery, he was murdered by his own fellow gang members who feared he could become an informant , and that he was attracting too much attention towards their activities.
